Heliopolis

The electronic and the ethnic

Heliopolis arrives at your ears in three distinct movements:

An eastern-tinged opening, in which low flute-esque sounds pair up with percussive glass sounds and wooden hits. This slowly leads into the drumbreak section where filtered slap bass coupled with effected guitars and washes of synthesizer pick up the pace frenetically.

This section gradually winds toward its conclusion, eventually dissolving into what might be called "stoner dub".

Off-beat hits echo the percussive textures from the opening, while abstract noises drift across the soundscape, creating a meditative, downbeat outro.
