Drosophelia

The main musical outlet. Drosophelia tracks describe the most personal work, given some even are songs. The general tone is dark; the sound of sleep deprivation and paranoia set to music.

Drosophelia tracks are built around both organic and electronic instruments, supplemented by hand-crafted audio processing tools, some of which can be found on this site.

Listed here are all releases, available for download and streaming playback on the platform of your choice (SpotifyApple Music, YouTube, etc.). Releases are intended to be consumed in their entierity.

Work is continuous, with yearly releases. To remain up-to-date with the latest efforts, you can follow Drosophelia on Instagram.

Nanitic

2023

Four track EP released July 17th, 2023.

Following the pattern where Drosophelia releases are themically bundled within trilogies, "Nanitic" marks the first entry in the third set, which is to be fully released between 2023 and 2025.

The record is a short "dystopian theatrical play" told in roughly 15 minutes, dragging you into and out of Hell, through to ironic funk split over 4 stylistically different tracks (for those of the "industrial goth"-persuasion).

Nanitic is available for streaming and download on all the major services starting July 17. More information can be found on the Drosophelia website.

Instar

2022

Single released December 19th, 2022.

Instar is an instrumental piece that completes the second trilogy of Drosophelia releases, started by 6581 on the Moult EP.

The track features the Darvaza tremolo plugin (almost!) throughout, where it is apparent on the pulsating sub bass layer and on modular synthesizer improvisations beyond the half-way point of the track. The overall sound is atmospheric to the point of sounding like a hospital scene in a sci-fi movie.

More music can be found on the Drosophelia website.

Exuvia

2021

Twelve track LP released August 1st, 2021.

Exuvia's narrative concerns the observation of human behaviour: where the desire to belong drives the adoption of a prefab identity, in which individuals appropriate the same uniform characteristics making them indistinct from one another.

As before, the record employs utilities written before or during the writing process:

  • The HomeCorrupter plugin featured more or less on every track to degrade a sound or set of sounds in several levels of prominence.

Exuvia is available for streaming and download on all the major services. More information can be found on the Drosophelia website.

Moult (EP)

2020

Four track EP released June 1st, 2020.

A quartet of paintings, where as before, the record employs utilities written before or written during the process:

  • Opening track 6581 (named after a certain synthesis microchip) is the result of algorithmic composition, as provided by the Molecular Music Generator.
  • Second track Objector employs the FogPad plugin for a dirtier reverb effect.
  • Closing track Detractor features the moving vowel sound provided by Transformant throughout.

More information can be found on the Drosophelia website.

Imago

2019

Full-length album released September 9th, 2019.

Polishing up unreleased recordings while simultaneous composing and recording the other half of the record, work on Imago commenced shortly after the release of Pupa.

The record features a large range of instruments collected over the years, as well as employing several tools available on this website, such as:
