FogPad

VST effects plugin

FogPad is a multichannel reverb effect with a little twist: instead of aiming to recreate a large amount of acoustic spaces, FogPad provides a murky nebula of frozen thoughts, recollecting long forgotten events. The reflections can be bent and transformed through use of its fully automatable parameters.

FogPad has been used extensively on the Exuvia and Moult records by Drosophelia. Or see what others are saying.

Controls

"Don't get lost in the mist. Although you never know, you might just like it."

FogPad was created for users looking for "happy accidents". By naming the controls to reflect the actual processes might counteract this.

However, for those who DO wish to know what is happening under the hood, here is a brief explanation of the controls:

Mist

  • Dense Reverb "room" size
  • Haze Reverb width (e.g. diffusion of the reflections)
  • Freeze endlessly repeats the last contents of the reverb buffer (at this point the Murk-section is frozen as well).

Hue

  • Dose Filter cutoff frequency
  • Pace Filter LFO speed
  • Oomph Filter LFO depth

Note that filter resonance is not visible in the UI, but can be automated through your DAW.

Murk

  • Wobble Pitch shift, move left shift to downwards and to the right shift upwards
  • Prick Decimation of the signal going into the reverb, this creates ringing artefacts

To reset the pitch shifting of the reflections, restore the Wobble position to be in its neutral (center) position.

Bother

  • Dose Amount of bit crushing applied to the reverberated signal
  • Pace Bit crushing LFO speed
  • Oomph Bit crushing LFO depth
  • Pre/post Whether to apply bitcrushing to the signal going into the reverb (cleaner results) or to the reverberated signal (more distortion)

Commingle

  • Dry amount of dry signal to mix into the output
  • Wet amount of wet, reverberated signal to mix into the output
